DIY Natural Dye Kit: Bundle Dyeing Silk Scarf
This DIY Natural Dye Kit includes everything you need to make your own 100% silk scarf with plant dyes!
Explore the magic of plant dyes yourself as you create your own pattern, watch the dye leach out of the flowers onto the silk, and reveal the beauty!
All flowers and leaves are homegrown in my backyard, harvested, dried/pressed, and packaged by me, The Michigan Dyer (aka Ashley)! These kits really are a labor of love <3.
This kit includes:
One mordanted 21 × 21 in Habotai silk scarf/bandana
Homegrown dried flowers and leaves
String
Step-by-step Dyeing Instructions
Flowers/leaves included in the kits but are in the kits depending on the season (they will all be labeled in the kits):
Cosmos, coreopsis, black walnut leaves, marigolds, maple leaves, black knight scabiosa, calendula, goldenrod
What you will need:
Steaming vessel with a lid and a basket to set your scarf (ex: colander, veggie steaming basket). Heat source & water. Tongs are recommended because the silk will be hot from the steam.
This makes a perfect gift, activity to do with a friend or partner, as well as a way to learn more about natural dyes as an individual!
Please reach out on my website or Instagram with any questions! (Insta: @themichigandyer)
